- one sweet family - our journey to adoption and beyond -
Wow. That was a very interesting and pointed post! I agreed with much of it, and have thought many of these things myself. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
They do a great job of outlying for naive clueless adoptive wannabe's everything that goes into adoption and the added stresses of international adoption. I didn't read every single word, but the one part that DID make me want to SPIT was this part: "Some of us have also adopted internationally and support international adoption strongly. Others despise the institution, and are angry about what the perceived hypocrisy of parents who walk past the foster kids in their own cities and states so that they can adopt from a far-away country. I'm somewhere in the middle, but definitely leaning more towards the anti side, especially after this week."IN THEIR OWN CITIES AND STATES... own own own... the "our own" mentality is just a small part of what I think is dreadfully wrong with America. We need to love EVERYONE as if they are our own. My own doesn't mean those in my city, state, or country. If I'm a Jesus follower I won't claim "my own"... us and them... they and we... Gotta be one of my biggest pet peeves...
I meant to say my own doesn't JUST mean those in my city, state, or country...
I agree, Holly. Our "own" as Christians does not limit us to this country. ;-) I don't think it's "our" country to claim! But don't get me started on the ramifications of that belief. I just might let anyone through the border! Imagine that!? Talk about a pet peeve... Luv ya, girl!
LOL, I know Andi..... can you imagine?
I'm gonna steal this, if that's ok. There are some people in MY world ;) that need to read it.
