The Cost of Adoption.

This is a good segment from NBC's Today Show about the cost of adoption. I'm a little flabbergasted, however, that someone would have to pay & would pay $40,000 for a domestic adoption?! Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit crazy?

That is terrible! What makes no sense to me is that by adopting a child you are saving the city, state, government thousands of dollars in them having to care for that child for 18 years. How does it make sense to charge you to take that child. They should be paying people to take these deal little ones.

No - I thought that was crazy too, but wasn't that an International adoption? I can't remember...but in any case, 40K does seem outrageous!

Our international adoption was around $30,000 for the two boys which is relatively "cheap" for international. And I can understand the reasons for why it costs so much with government fees, etc. BUT! $40,000 for a domestic adoption is ridiculous...unless part of that money went to help pay for the birthmother's hospital fees, etc.
